Desmond Kabus, MSc

Desmond Kabus joined our lab for his PhD training in Autumn 2020 after obtaining his MSc in Theoretical Physics at the Institute for Computational Plasma Physics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

He obtained his MSc degree under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rainer Grauer and Dr. Jürgen Dreher.

During his PhD training he will apply machine learning and other computational methods to develop data-driven individualized human heart models using high-resolution recordings of human atrial tissue cultures. This will be done in direct collaboration with the applied mathematics research group of Dr. Hans Dierckx, Mathematics of Cardiac Arrhythmias, at KU Leuven. Eventually his studies will progress towards clinical translational by making use of intracardiac electrograms from patients.

His project is supported by the Leuven-Leiden global PhD programme.
