We have published our paper entitled "Generation and primary characterization of iAM-1, a versatile new line of conditionally immortalized atrial myocytes with preserved cardiomyogenic differentiation capacity" in Cardiovascular Research, with Jia Liu and Twan de Vries as very proud first author and last author, respectively.

We have published our paper entitled "Paradoxical onset of arrhythmic waves from depolarized areas in cardiac tissue due to curvature-dependent instability" in Physical Reviews X. Sasha Teplenin did an excellent job in exploring the onset of ectopic waves from depolarized areas with different geometries by combining optogenetics with in-depth computer modeling, thereby entering the world of quantum mechanics.

Alfa-1-antitrypsine-deficiëntie (AATD) is een erfelijke aandoening waarbij de lever het eiwit alfa-1 antitrypsine minder, in afwijkende vorm of zelfs helemaal niet aanmaakt. Hierdoor wordt een enzym genaamd elastase, dat zich in de long bevindt, onvoldoende geremd. Longblaasjes worden beschadigd en de long verliest zijn elasticiteit met als gevolg vernauwde luchtwegen en verminderd vermogen om zuurstof op te nemen. Lees verder
