Dr. H.W. (Hubert) Vliegen is cardioloog en heeft als specialisme aangeboren hartafwijkingen en pulmonale hypertensie.
In 1987 promoveerde hij op het onderwerp " Myocardial changes in Ventricular hypertrophy". In 1993 rondde hij in het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum de opleiding als cardioloog af.
Hij is nu werkzaam als cardioloog in het team voor aangeboren hartafwijkingen. Daarnaast begeleidt hij promovendi en heeft hij onderwijstaken.
