Sissi Zhang has joined the lab as a second year BSc Medical student as part of Leiden University’s MD-PhD program. During this program Sissi will be focusing on projects concerning the origin of particular types of cardiac arrhythmias in order to get a better understanding of their underlying mechanisms for therapeutic purposes.

Op zaterdag 7 oktober 2017 vond de 10e ICD-patiëntendag plaats. Op deze dag praatten we onze ICD-patiënten bij over de laatste ontwikkelingen op ICD-gebied en gingen de patiënten zelf aan de slag bij een aantal workshops. Dr. B. (Bardia) Arabkhani is in opleiding tot cardio-thoracaal chirurg aan het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum.
Hij heeft geneeskunde gestudeerd aan de Erasmus Universiteit in Rotterdam en behoorde tot de top 10% van medisch studenten die parallel aan de studie deel mochten nemen aan een Master of Science in Clinical Research/Epidemiology. Op donderdag 18 januari organiseren wij het eerste regionale symposium over de aorta: The A(orta)-Team. Tijdens dit symposium vertellen we over de multidisciplinaire aanpak van ziekten aan de aorta zoals wij deze hebben georganiseerd. Journal of Internal Medicine publishes our work on translational aspects of optoelectronic rhythm control
Emile Nyns has published his final chapter of this thesis in Journal of Internal Medicine: "Light transmittance in human atrial tissue and transthoracic illumination in rats support translatability of optogenetic cardioversion of atrial fibrillation".
Another example of our great partnership with the Department of Microelectronic Engineering from the Technical University Delft.

Kick-off Nationaal eHealth Living Lab

Op vrijdag 9 maart opende burgemeester Lenferink het Nationaal eHealth Living Lab (NeLL). In het NeLL wil het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum alle landelijke eHealth-initiatieven samenbrengen. Het Hart Long Centrum is trotse partner van dit initiatief.
Nationaal eHealth Living Lab (NeLL) is opgericht door het LUMC om eHealthtoepassingen te ontwikkelen in nauwe samenwerking met nationale en internationale stakeholders binnen de zorg en de technologie.
