Saïd F.A. Askar, MD, PhD

PhD: 2009-13

Saïd Askar started his PhD training in 2009, which was funded by the Dutch Heart Foundation (2008/B119). He has focused primarily on the pro-arrhythmic aspects of cardiac fibrosis and has studied novel anti-arrhythmic interventions.For his studies he often designed and produced his owntools and instruments. In early 2013, Saïd entered medical school again to start his clinical rotations. He obtained his PhD degree in late 2013.

He has won several prizes, including the young investigator award of the European Heart Rhythm Society in 2011.
