PhD: 2017-22
Niels Harlaar joined our lab in Spring 2015 as part of Leiden University’s MD-PhD program and is co-supervised by Dr. van Brakel (Department of Cardiothoracic surgery).
During his PhD training he will develop and utilize human cardiac tissue models to investigate novel pathways involved in atrial fibrillation-associated structural and functional remodeling.
Currently, he holds the record of being (by far) the youngest lab member.
Niels has finished his training and is expected to defend his PhD thesis late 2023.
