Daniël Pijnappels has received an ERC Starting Grant for his project entitled "Biological auto-detection and termination of heart rhythm disturbances". The main aim of this project is to investigate how the heart itself could act as an ICD, which would give rise to the Biologically-Integrated Cardiac Defibrillator (Bio-ICD). In total 4 postdocs and 2 PhD students will start working on this project, which will start early next year.
